I hadn’t intended Call of the Sea to be a sea shanty but that’s how it was interpreted by a collaborator last year. He set it to music with a very fast tempo and sang it at bewildering speed. Anyone want a try at a more ballady pace, or some other interpretation, the lyrics are at Lyrics 2.

Here’s the first verse:

The Call of the Sea

Verse 1
We head for the Horn, sails tattered and torn
A cargo of grain from the east
And the albatross glides under gunmetal skies
Over galloping white-capped seas
